Prompt Journal

Okay so April was asking me about what a Prompt Journal is - so here it is:

All About Me Journaling Prompts

by Sherrill Ghilardi Pierre (Apr 18, 2006) from scrapjazz.com

Canning different fruits and turning them into preserves is a tradition that's passed down from generation to generation. So much time and effort goes into making and canning these preserves and eventually when you open the cans, you can really appreciate all the hard work that was put into the preparation. Take the basic idea of canning and think instead about your life, or the life of someone close to you, and how much has happened during the course of that life. There's so much effort that has been put into growing and maturing including childhood, school years, holidays, relationships, etc. So many different "ingredients" have been added and someday those memories will be fully appreciated.

Making a journal jar is a creative way to encourage someone to start slowly keeping a journal. Whether you're a person who already likes to journal, you're not really interested, or you find it too time consuming, a journal jar lets you attempt to journal in small doses. I know I have good intentions and would love to journal every day just so I can remember something about these days that go by so fast. The days all blend into one and before you know it, all the memories are just one big blur.

The idea behind a journaling jar is that you take out one prompt a day, staple it to your journal page and write a response to that prompt.
I got my questions (I did edit a few) from this site http://www.lightplanet.com/mormons/ywc/journaljars.htm
But there are a ton of sites to go to - and to find out more about the journal jars go to http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Themes/About_Me/874.php

Here's what mine looks like:

And today's question was "What pets have I had? And which was my fav?"
So I added pics of some of the animals I have:

(sorry the pic is so fuzzy)

So thats my prompt journal - something I wanted to do - on the first page I have this:
I have never been good at keeping a journal on a dily basis, but I hope that this will allow me to write down some interesting pieces of info about myself.
Each time I write in this journal I will draw a question or statement from my prompting jar to inspire what I will write that day. I will then glue it on the page and begin to write. There may be days where I don't need the jar - but its there to keep me on track. I can't promise to write in it daily or even weekly, but I hope I can keep coming back to it until its finished - how ever long that my take.
My hope is that this journal will preserve my memories, thoughts, feelings, and more sot that one day my children or grandchildren will be able to understand me - my faith, my relationships, my decisions, my struggles, my joys, my passions ~ my life.

So there you have it - my prompting journal. Hope to see yours!

Oh my goodness! I love it! Thanks so much for posting this for me! I should totally do this too! LOL, you're going to start thinking I'm just copy catting you! First CM, then the Blog, then a prompt journal!?!!
I love how artistic your page looks too! It's awesome that you did in your own way (whether intentional or not) a layout!!! The cover looks so awesome and I was excited to see you were able to use the little jewel like squares ;)
Thanks so much for commenting on my blog! It's so exciting to see a comment there when I log on! You made me giggle about the Lost comment! It was an "Oh my goodness" type episode tonight - a few of my theories were right too, which it's always good to be validated. I'll have to try to find the rest of the episodes for you at some point. What was happening on the last one you saw, just so I can find the next one? Oh yeah, you decided not to watch Lost this season b/c there were a couple different shows on at that time and you figured you'd catch up on Lost this summer. Now you've got the bug though!
Hope you can have a good day too tomorrow!
Luv ya!
April

Oh and I'm so glad you noticed those little jewel squares you gave me - i was going to post that but didn't think you would see them - they are on the back too with another stamp in black - i like how it came out. its really like scrapping - just not as detailed or as pretty - but it gets me journaling!
let me know if you start one.
hmmm...last eposide of Lost - i can't remember a lot but the older lady and her husband were reunited when the group got together - man i can't remember - sorry i'll think about it.
